Good evening X,
Thank you for the movie recs. We have seen none of those, since we are the "video rental" king and queen..<vbg>.. Our latest venture to "Hollywood Video" produced "The Family Man" and "Crazy/Beautiful".. two we enjoyed for a winter evening respite...
Moving on to books, our secret Santa of frequent book exchange sent us "Keeping the Lakes Way", a narrative about the Sinixt people, native to northeastern Washington and southeastern British Columbia. And as the front says, "Reburial and the Re-creation of a moral World among an Invisible people".. A fascinating account, not too easy to read , about how the "white man's world" buried these people through artificial boundaries and in-accurate historical accounts by people like from the "Hudson's Bay Company"..
Anyway our secret book-loving Santa, is Jeannie, the beautiful wife of my cousin Jack, a rancher where we come from, and a member of the Sinixt.. Anyway it is probably not of too much interest to people outside this geographical or ethnic realm.. but I just had to write about it.. As she wrote inside book,,
"To Mike and Mary-
This is "who I am" and where I come from-
Love , Jeanie
And I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice, if everybody knew who they were and where they come from ?".. Some do, but many do NOT, IMO, because they are so easily swayed by the events of the day..
Now it is our turn to come up with something as good..<g> I hope we can..
Take care..
