Samsung to suspend DRAM shipments to Taiwan -paper

TAIPEI, Jan 23 (Reuters) - South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd <05930.KS> has informed its Taiwan distribution channel to suspend shipments of dynamic random access memory chips (DRAMs) from next Monday, a local newspaper said on Wednesday.

The Commercial Times quoted unidentified Taiwan DRAM distribution channels for Samsung as saying the company informed them that standard DRAM shipments, including SDRAM and DDR, would be suspended in a bid to hike prices.

The paper said Samsung has yet to decide how long its new policy will last, but at least it would suspend such shipments until the end of January.

At 0100 GMT, Samsung shares were 3,500 won lower at 295,500 won.
