Great job on achieving C band in 1980! That was tough to achieve in your backyard then.

Back in 1977 when I was working as an engineer at KWSU TV in Pullman, Washington on Washington State University campus PBS was just beginning to build it's C band network to replace it's terrestrial microwave system across the United States provided by AT&T. Us folks at KWSU had the distinction of having the longest and worst signal path in the entire PBS system. When the 10 meter earth terminals from Andrew and Scientific Atlanta showed up we were in awe of the performance compared to what we had been dealing with before. The other three networks, ABC, NBC and CBS had nothing like that for years! Anyway you know what the capability was at the time!

Yes we have a long way to go for true wideband high resolution video to everyone on the Internet but the pieces are beginning to fall into place. Sort of reminds me of when a film cameraman at my old TV station in the late 70's said CCD's would never replace film! Took a little longer than I expected but it's here today. Ultimate resolutions of CCD's are beginning to surpass film resolutions in some applications.

I find it interesting that some countries are diving headlong into high speed communications with gusto.

I get the feeling Internet II is coming fast.
