Paul, re: <By January 1, 2004 Microsoft will not have paid AOL Time Warner one penny.>
LOL. You want me to take the unders on a two year time limit? If this thing is settled in 5 years I'll be amazed. I'm guessing closer to 10.
Intergraph has been suing Intel for patent infringement and anticompetitive business practices since '97 and hasn't any money yet. Trial is now set for 'after Jan. 1, 2003'. Intel wanted to delay it longer -- said they couldn't be ready by then.
Jim Taylor, Intergraph's chairman and chief executive officer, told analysts last week(August, '01) that a schedule is now in place, but he's not sure what it will mean.
"To date, we haven't lived with any schedule," Taylor said. "I don't know if this schedule will remain or not."
Those interested may see: al.com
which I think is a good read.
Those looking for some profits may note that INGR's market cap is around $700M and they're looking for a $1B - $3B settlement. They've some pretty good software and insiders have been buying.
Classy company!
"We didn't trample on anyone. We were just doing our best to stay ahead of the pack." Paul Engel, Inside Intel, Page 142.
What do you think, Paul, "Are you going to burn in hell for it?"
