Kazakstan Goldfields Corporation manages and operates three gold mines and two large and highly prospective blocks of exploration licenses totaling over three million acres in north-central Kazakstan. Current underground gold reserves in the proven and probable categories exceed 8.5 million tonnes containing 1.58 million ounces of gold. Annual production is forecasted at 175,000 ounces in 1998. Through an aggressive development plan for 1997 and 1998, Kazakstan Goldfields Corporation will continue to have a strong and growing presence in Kazakstan.

-POTENTIAL-
...Aksu Mine: Proven and probable ore reserves: 3.7 million tonnes, containing 566,000 oz.of gold
Bestube Mine: Proven and probable ore reserves: 3.1 million tonnes, containing 627,000 oz. of gold
Jolimbet Mine: Proven and probable ore reserves: 1.3 million tonnes, containing 205,000

Deposits:
Excellent potential to double existing reserves
An additional 425,000 ounces were recently discovered within 100 metres of existing underground workings at the Asku mine site 425,000 ounces represents 10% of the licence currently being explored

Investments:
Carbon-in-pulp facility scheduled to be in operation by the 4th quarter of '97 This will reduce production costs from US $275 per ounce to $225 per ounce Gold production to increase to 250,000 ounces per year by 1999
