Fyo, Re: UMC has $1.4B in cash, so they could easily do it. I consider it extremely unlikely, though. I agree. Since they had to buy the shares on the open market (there isn't anyone holding such a large stake in AMD who would sell it) I seriously doubt that. Possibly AMD and UMC are in talks about taking equal share in a new megafab with 300mm wafers or about foundry deals but I doubt the cooperation would go beyond that. Andreas
