You don't crush the rock in micro-diamond extraction,...so if there are big ones, they will be found. Some known diamond controls are added to ensure the extraction and processing is working properly and the results have integrity,...ie)not destroying diamonds present.

Micro-Diamond Extraction By Caustic Fusion

Uncrushed rock, drill core and drill chip samples are mixed with chemicals, heated and dissolved in high temperature kilns. The lack of crushing is to avoid contamination and diamond breakage risks.

A series of chemical processes reduce samples to residues consisting of diamonds and a few other resistive minerals.

Any large diamonds are removed under strict security procedures. Samples weighing 10kg are commonly reduced to 0.2% of initial mass.
Samples are spiked with known diamonds to ensure quality.
