If it is part of an agenda I would say it is part of a gun control agenda. If guns are shown to be very useful for self defense and defense of others then it hurts gun control efforts. The mass killings that make the national news are actually the types of situations where someone with a gun is most likely to be able to save lives but they are used by many to support the idea of gun control.

Tim, maybe but as a gun control advocate, the fact that some one defended themselves with a gun would not impress me or sway my position. Being against gun control is really against deadly violence. My response to the whole incident would have been if guns were not easily obtained, then the law student would not have been able to go on a shooting rampage.

And not in a million years would I suspect the media of hiding the issue because it might benefit the NRA cause.
