Eric:

Since I went to the ROM because of your post there are some things that need clarifying. First, no throngs except for the usual schoolkids. I was there last year with my eldest daughter on a fieldtrip, just didn't go into the Earth Sciences exhibit. As government grants go down, admission price goes up, now $15. Free when I was in school. The friend I went with today dropped out of school and spent weeks on end at the ROM drawing.

The minerologists had an interactive exhibit in Eaton Hall for the kids, but there were a few adults only there when I went in. The fellow I talked to said there were at least three pieces in the vault and if he couldn't find anything already printed, they have a digital camera in the vault and he will send me the pictures. He did think it was the Croesus piece, but also thought it is owned by the OGS. I never mentioned the OGS, and so don't just think it's coincidence. Do you have a picture of it from an OGS publication. That would certainly verify it if you get one and I get one.

We went into the library where they fawned over my friend. Consolidation goes on in the museum business also, and they have just made 26 departments into 6. Had a very nice lunch in the members lounge overlooking the old Park Plaza. An enjoyable day and the weather and company were great.

Many thanks. Will report when I hear from the minerologist.

Regards

Bob
