| Have you seen "The Winds of War", the mini- series based on Herman Wouk's novel, with Robert Mitchum? It is very good, as is the sequel, "War and Remembrance". I can still see, in my mind's eye, the principal characters huddled around the radio listening to Churchill, after which Polly Bergen's character says,"That man will save civilization", or something to that effect. Yes, he made the greatest speeches, both in rhetoric and substance, of the century. Reagan also was a master of oration....... |
