Joe, re:3 stooges at Tomeshardware

Extremely sloppy journalism calling this a "3000A" processor in benchmark tables when the FSB is highly overclocked, and the memory and disk subsystems are modestly overclocked.

I think this report also gives proof that Sysmark 2001 is totally unreliable in measuring system performance. it showed a 92% speedup with a 36% increase in CPU clock.

This is, of course, physically impossible unless the measurement is faulty.

Unfortunately, this article with it's water cooling to 0 degC also says nothing about the overclockability of the "typical" NW 2200. I totally discount the report of the super-special-edition NW 2200 that could overclock to 3000 on air cooling, since no specific benchmarks are assigned to this CPU.

And where's the proof for this statement: "If you possess a water cooling system you can use almost any P4 Northwood at 2.2 GHz or higher." Exactly how many P4's did they try in ONE NIGHT? Also, very few "water cooling systems" operate at 0degC. A more accurate statement might have been:

If you buy the best water cooling system that money can buy, put half of it in winter cold outside the window, are willing to buy a few P4-2200's and don't care if they only last a week because of extreme overvoltage conditions, then you MIGHT get it to run at 3000 MHz.
