NHC and Consultronics Receive 33-site Order from Chinese ILEC for Integrated Remote Test System
New XPoint(TM) test access copper cross-connect to be deployed with Consultronics CableShark RM
MONTREAL, Jan. 24 /CNW/ - NHC Communications Inc. (TSE: NHC - news), a leading provider of automated mainframe solutions for the copper-based telecommunications and Internet access markets, today announced the sale of an 33-site order to a Chinese incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) with its newly released XPoint(TM)-128 test access copper cross-connect product. The integrated remote test system comprised of NHC's XPoint(TM) and the Consultronics CableShark RM enables the ILEC to remotely test its copper loops, dramatically reducing the operational costs associated with the testing and deployment of POTS, E1 and xDSL services.
This order for NHC was received from Consultronics who is working directly with the prime contractor for the Chinese ILEC. With this integrated remote test system the Chinese ILEC, which operates a total of 700 sites in Mainland China can now remotely perform multiple line tests at all the sites selected. This eliminates the need for dispatching field technicians to conduct tests at these locations, reducing the ILEC's operational costs and generating more revenues by improving the speed with which lines can be delivered.
"We are pleased to see that our partnership with Consultronics is beginning to bloom. By delivering a solution that can economically automate remote testing of these copper loops, NHC is answering the ILEC's needs in the most cost effective manner, says Sylvain Abitbol, President & CEO."
NHC and Consultronics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance and promote a complete integrated end-to-end, remote test solution consisting of NHC's XPoint(TM) and Consultronics' CableShark RM. Combined with the CableShark RM, NHC's new XPoint(TM) offers ILEC's a low cost per port solution for line testing. "Many ILEC's need a test access only cross-connect solution at many of their wire-centers, in this respect NHC's XPoint(TM) greatly compliments our CableShark RM test solution," says Robert Fitts, Vice President of Marketing for Consultronics. "Consultronics is working on several similar projects throughout Asia and Europe and we are seeing plenty of opportunities for this integrated remote test solution," says Thomas Gough, Vice President of Sales for Consultronics.
The CableSHARK RM fully qualifies twisted pair local loops that are used to deliver ADSL, HDSL, ISDN, T1 or E1 services. The CableSHARK RM is one of the first measuring devices in the world to be able to accurately and completely perform the testing from one single end of the cable. No remote device is required. Patents are pending for the revolutionary technology.
"The recent unbundling of copper loops and demand for broadband in the international markets has created an opportunity for scalable integrated remote test solutions, this sale confirms the need ILECs have for smaller scalable cross-connects like XPoint(TM)," says Peter Benisti Vice President of Worldwide Sales for NHC.
