Thanks, I knew you would see the overall point. I cannot say what the right figure is, I haven't done the required work, nor do I have the expertise. But I have been convinced that there are readiness problems, as well as retention problems, that must be addressed, and I know that redundancy is an important part of military security (it is how Saddam Hussein survived). A lot of times, what seems wasteful is merely prudent. Furthermore, I consider missile defense to be worth pursuing, as a leg in our defense posture, and a component of building down our nuclear arsenal. So I am more willing to see the military budget increase........
