Zinmaster, if CO2 levels have been accuratly recorded as you say for the last 50,000 years and there levels are rising, and this is a cause of global warming. Why has the temperature of the earth remained nearly constant?
I don't believe the vast complexities of the earths biosphere can be simulated in some lab. Do you? Mother earth has been around for billions of years and to suggest 100 years of carbon emissions will destroy the planet is to me pretty far fetched.
The point is, is it worth billions of dollars on some theory of what if's?
To me it's similiar to stock selection. Your dealing with probabilities here. What is the probability that the earth will wither and die from global warming? Pretty darn small to me. On the other hand, what is the probability that helping more kids get a college education will benefit our country and mankind. I believe the latter is a much higher probability, so why not direct our limited resources toward that which has the higher probability of success?

About the overpopulation crisis you see looming....

Once again I have to disagree with you. I don't see it as an overpopulation problem so much as an economic problem. If Japan can live prosperously with 140 million people on a few Islands the size of Massassuchetts. Then why can't the world support much higher population densities? No the evidence is pretty clear. The reason countries have what visually looks like a serious population problem is really an Economic prosperity problem. Or lack therof.

Regards, Michael
