Hi Gottfried,

Good observations. Some of my thoughts were that even if wafer size doubles the area available on individual wafers, that die sizes seem to be getting bigger for lots of chips like the Pentium 4. Also at these dimensions, yields are more problematic leading to more wasted space. Finally, the sheer cost of 300mm lines will blunt the supposed drop in units needed. I'm not informed enough to begin to put numbers on this, but those are my thoughts anyway.
