Part of the rise was most certainly the bubble, but name me another biotech that went from $0.50 to $50 - that's a 100x rise from trough to peak, without much in the way of actual progress to justify a rise.

I followed it very closely indeed because I owned quite a bit of it for the early part of the ride, until I chickened out in the low teens. The company was most decidedly much more PR happy than most other biotechs. I concede that "hype" is probably too strong, but they certainly did more than most to encourage the feeding frenzy.
