Unfortunately, the analyst community makes their EPS estimates on a proforma basis, which all but forces companies to do the same. I think that's fine, so long as the variance to gaap is clearly disclosed. I believe the real problem arises from those companies that use "extraordinary" charges to sweep (hide) unrelated costs under the carpet. There is no evidence that such is the case here.
