I agree with your assessment of hypocrisy. I have a strong feeling when the media finds a better topic for center stage, some of the positive news regarding Enron may leak through the noise.

The politics may accidentally help Enron out of Chap 11. With all the sorrow being expressed for those poor employees and unsuspecting investors, some (back door) political influence may impact the court's decisions.
Heck if the court can just keep 10% of the 9.58B(3Q/01) SE for common, that's almost 3 times today's close; but who's counting? >>VBG<<
