So I found the speedup (92%) totally unbelievable." How about a crazy theory? What if the out-of-range core frequency made BIOS so confused that it forgot to turn off some secret performance-enhancing features in P4 that were not unleashed yet? Just kidding. I prefer a system timer fault explanation. - Ali
