Skip: One quick note I wanted to make.. You stated over on Yahoo.
"What I do believe is that only in fairly specialized situations will LWIN be able to offer all you can eat data."
and
"The really neat thing about LWIN is that they don't really depend upon data anyway--voice is doing it fine and whatever data goes is just fine and if it doesn't they still have the extra capacity to use on voice."
First of all.. Like I have pointed out earlier. Using Salt Lake City as a reference and being conservative that there is no extra capacity for Data Services.
Salt Lake City has 15 Mhz. (5 carrier pairs) and covers 1.372 million covered POP's.. Where as Phoenix has 10Mhz (3 carrier pairs) and covers 2.951 million POP's. So the following figures of extra capacity available in a given CricKet market launched are using Salt Lake City as a base line (Voice Only Market). Even though my opinion says that it will support data also..
Fayetteville, AR 28 Mhz Fort Smith, AR 28.7 Mhz Pine Bluff, AR 19.2 Mhz Jonesboro, AR 13.9 Phoenix, AZ (22.25) Mhz Merced, CA 13.3 Mhz Modesto, CA 11.19 Mhz Visalia, CA 11.14 Mhz Denver, CO (14.91) Mhz Ft. Collins, CO 7.66 Mhz Greeley, CO 8.4Mhz Colmbus, GA 28Mhz Macon, GA 27.4 Mhz Bosie,ID 25.9 Mhz Wichita, KS 24.4 Mhz Lincoln, NE 12.8 Mhz Omaha, NE 3.79 Mhz Albuquerque,NM 7.9 Mhz Santa Fe, NM 13.99Mhz Reno, NV 6.16 Mhz Buffalo, NY (0.5233) Mhz Syracuse 9.38 Mhz Dayton (0.613) Mhz Toledo 9.4 Mhz Sandusky, OH 14.1 Mhz Eugene, OR 7.3 Mhz Salem, OR 27.26 Mhz Pittsburgh, PA (14.75) Mhz Spokane, WA 9.86 Mhz Hot Springs, AR 14.4 Mhz Little Rock, AR 15.4 Mhz Tuscon, AZ 6.7 Mhz Charlotte, NC (1.23) Mhz Greensboro,NC 3.16 Mhz Tulsa, OK 8.13 Mhz Chattannoga, TN 11.4 Clarksville, TN 13.6 Mhz Knoxville, TN 9.7 Mhz Memphis 4.32 Mhz Nashville, TN 3.88 Mhz Salt Lake City 0 Mhz Provo, UT 11.4 Mhz.
Using these calculations, Chattanooga will have 3 extra carriers. Which jives with the Chattanooga uses 2 sometimes 3 carriers for voice information you got before. Remember.. All of these calculations are BEFORE 1X.
But, again. I would prefer to use Phoenix as the voice only 1X base line and call everything over that as available for data in the other markets.
If you look at the Cost of Service for Data vs. Voice.. You will find that their is allot more margin in data.
