I believe I have a copy of what is now being referred to as the Watkins-Lay memo and far from being a "whistle-blower" it is more like an hysterical rambling knee jerk reaction which might be better categorized as a typical bookkeepers "CYA Memo"--hey there's something WRONG!!! here but I am not sure and some one should do something or maybe I am completely wrong memo.
I am not defending Ken Lay, but that memo might be categorized as so general and rambling as to not put anyone on notice of anything.
And it appears that the New York Times author (KURT EICHENWALD, The New York Times, January 25, 2002) in your previous post does not really seem to understand what exactly happened, either, but was told to write something about it.
The Jedi, Raptor, LMG deals, simply put, from what limited information I have seen, are loans disguised as sales deals. This is not rocket science. It would have taken any competent corporate attorney about 2 days to figure it out, given the correct facts.
The above is just my opinion only and there is no reason to believe it or rely on it, nor should you. |
