Robert, re semiconductor equipment sales as a proportion of total semiconductor sales We discussed this on the AMAT thread a few days ago and Katherine D. said it averages to about 11% [?]. I have a chart that shows a monthly ratio of SEMI orders / semiconductor sales. It serves to show the trend and averages a bit over 10% since Jan '95. The input data, while reported monthly, is 3 month ma. SEMI orders do take cancellations into account.

You can observe that when semiconductor sales are low, a smaller percentage is used for SEMI orders, increasing the negative impact on equipment makers. Katherine pointed out that SEMI order data excludes lithography because those companies don't reside in N.A.
