That what I think.

Like 3DNOW, software maker will delay implementation of x86-64 until Intel set the standard.

AMD will eventually have to wait for Intel and will remake his X86-64 compatible to Intel but will be 18 mounts too late.

This is where LINUX and M$ could force Intel by imposing the standard but this is wishful thinking...
