It's amazing. I surely wouldn't want to hold any Tech stocks when they require companies to use only GAAP earnings.
Personally, I think that either they will require GAAP and do away with pro forma all together, or analysts will be compelled to evaluate stocks using GAAP earnings <generally accepted accounting practices> for their ratings

Look what I found when I was doing DD on PMCS:

The net loss in the fourth quarter of 2001 under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) was $308.0 million or a net loss per share of $1.82. This compares with a net loss of $34.5 million in the third quarter of 2001 or a net loss per share of $0.20.

No way Goldman didn't upgrade this one to dump shares at higher prices. These guys never change. If I know this, so do they....
