My Dell P-4 machine runs Windows ME and IE6. It came with MS Works installed. MS Works, however cannot recognize the tyoe of Excel file I must work with this weekend that was created in MS Office (Excel).

Is there any reason why I cannot, or should not, uninstall the MS Works suite, and install the MS Office 97 suite that I got with a PC that is now defunct?

Advice appreciated.

Regards
