AMD thinks they can break into the server market by offering 32-bit, and promising 64-bit later on. Intel hopes to break into the RISC market by offering a complete 64-bit solution from the beginning. Those that have invested highly into 64-bit RISC machines don't care about x86 32-bit legacy. So I will ask you again why you think x86-64 will be the path of least resistance that could threaten Itanium success?
