Chris,

Your point is acknowledged and understood, Counselor... Albeit, grudgingly... <g>

I would think that under the circumstances that Yahoo! (and/or its legal representatives) could be a tad more understanding and a little more helpful. After all, the request comes at the end of a long and fruitless legal battle, where Yahoo! had ample involvement supplying the court with seemingly endless requests for ID's, IP addresses, etc... So Yahoo! could not possibly claim that they were unfamiliar with the case, nor unfamiliar with the multitude of aliases involved. It appears to me that Yahoo! is following the "letter of the law" (perfectly legitimate to do so) in a manner that makes it particularly difficult for the defendants to comply with the court's rulings. To the casual observer, it has the (misleading?) appearance of a petty act of tit-for-tat as an answer for all of the hassles that Yahoo! was put through in complying with legal requests while the case was being litigated.

For my take on the actual court case, see: Message 15397158 . Note the date of the post is well prior to the eventual rulings.
