Words have many levels of meaning. Of course we use terms like "better" in an informal sense to indicate preference. It's when we fall into the trap of assuming that such choices have absolute significance or meaning that we lay the groundwork for animosity and intolerance. This latter view of "better" is based on a zero-sum notion that for me to be "right" you must be "wrong". But if we let go of this dichotomy then we open ourselves to a wider perspective.

Is this wider perspective "better"? Not in any absolute sense, but it is worth exploring.
