Call for help.

Hi all. Our baby boy was born Jan.22 apparently healthy until (8lbs 7oz. 22.75 inches long) we went home and noticed problems. I have, along with mom, spent the last three days at St. Louis Childrens Hospital where she and the baby still reside. He has blood, apparently in his urine although I think he is bleeding through his penis without urination. They have performed a spinal tap, blood work with culture, urine analysis, and other tests. Nothing has surfaced and all doctors are stumped. He is currently getting fluids and antibiotics. He is lethargic, but with a healthy appetite.

The blood is just a little spot which comes about after a couple of hours until we change his diaper. It is bright red. The doctors say they have never had a case like this and usually it is some type of urinary infection, which is very responsive to treatments. I have been awake for nearly 70 hours straight pouring over medical journals and books to offer ignorant possibilities to doctors to no avail. My call is to pool the general knowledge of all of you guys to see if any of you may have some insight. Please let me know. Sorry for such a lame note, but I am at my end both physically and mentally. My wife is beyond hers.

TIA
Rick
