First shot...he nails him in the balls!
Not only that, but the handle of the tomahawk was pointing upward at the perfect incline to simulate a very happy cowboy.
I would not have known about that one unless I had seen the infomercial for "The Best Of Carson" video tape collection. Anyhow after watching all those great bits, I could not help myself but call them up and buy the tapes.
They are great.
It's fun being able to see all those old stars like Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Don Rickels, George Gobel, and so many others... Another collection that I bought was "The Dean Martin Roasts". Phylis Diller, Frank Sinatra, Sid Ceasar, and many others all smokin' and drinkin' and making fun of each other...
While I was on vacation, I saw on TV that Bob Hope has a series out now too. I'm tempted to buy that one as well. I'll have to stay up late one of these nights and see if I catch the infomercial.
I'm not sure why I dig these so much. Perhaps it's because I remember laying down on the carpet infront of the TV as a kid (doing my job being the remote control for the TV), and seeing all these people as my father and mother laughed so hard that it would make me laugh, without really understanding what was going on...
Jonathan Winters could really get my Dad to burst out laughing. Tim Conway from the Carol Burnette show had that same effect on my folks too.
I would bet that all of these shows would do well if some cable channel would rerun them. I'd definitely watch them instead of what gets put on the air now.
I don't even remember if the Sonny and Cher Show was any good, but I'd watch it any way. Same thing goes for The Flip Wilson Show.
It's a shame they don't try to do that format any more.
Maybe someday it will come back.
It would be a great way for Jerry Seinfeld or some other commedian to get back on TV.
