Dear Lorne:
This thread was pretty hot a couple of months ago. In fact at one point for a day or so it became the number 1 site in SI's hot subject threads. We had interesting discussions going on here with Amein, and others (e.g. DuckCrow, etc.), but somehow after we were getting into analysis and understanding of Quran, and the book of Hadith, those who were defending Islam (Quran and Hadith, etc.) kind of disappeared... and as for the rest of us ... well.. we kind of let it go! One can laugh so much from some of the teachings of Quran and Hadith, and after a while it becomes boring! :)
On a serious note, and regretfulluy as is the case as Americans, we soon forget the horrible things that happen. And as we forget we end up also forgiving. No matter what we say, it is always the case that everyone forgets horrible things so easily. For a while everyone is hot about such horrible tragedies, but after a while it cools down and everyone forgets. But I sincerely hope 9/11 is not forgotten. I hope everyone and every future generation always remembers the following: attacked911.tripod.com
In any event, the only possible beneficial outcome of Septemeber 11th tragic attacks is that the world has started to truly understand what Islam is all about - and perhaps - 9/11 is the beginning of the end of Islam as we know it today. Regretfully, we have a long way to go, but at least the process has started and if the political correctness is somehow taken away, this process can accelerate throughout the world. But what are the chances of that?!!! As long as we are dependent on oil, there will always be political correctness protecting the evil!
