You would think ENE was the first big company that took stupid pills while smoking greed weed and went bust. We will now have a time of crooked accounting rumors and out right witch hunts. If this happens the market will head south until next year running from the rumor of the day. Maybe it is time to go short and get rich on the coming wild eyed fear. After all where there is smoke there is fire. If Ken Lay was there, the company must be crooked as an old mountain road.

Somehow, I don't think so. Enron went under because the corporate culture supported high risk off the balance sheet business ventures that got out of control. The BOD, CEO, CFO, corporate counsel, lots of accounting people, lots of lawyers, and the limited partners knew what was going on. The company was hiring people left and right and spending money like a drunken sailor. Compaq on the other hand has been reducing staff and squeezing expenses out of the production cycle. The business culture at Compaq is totally different from the Enron culture. I don't see any smoke there.
