Bank of Nova Scotia was the prime dealer of Gold Bullion in Canada. It is sold in ounce bars or other sizes. (Kilo, Maple Leaf Coins, etc..) Deakins, Johnson Matthey and Enlgelhard are in Toronto or in your phone book. They refine gold and sell it in North America.

The fear of buying counterfeit Kruggerands is from a CIA operation to discredit the 'rand when they were trying to destabilize the government of South Africa. It is believed they did this shortly after the SA people got a ballistic counter to short range theatre missiles from a weapons developer in Canada (Bull) and were improving their nuclear technology. Bull had also talked with them about launching a GPS type targeting satellite system by this same method. He was killed by MI6/CIA/Mossad when tried to do the same ting in Iraq.

The actual technology for inserting tungsten blanks into coins as a counterfeiting scheme is frighteningly difficult and not cost effective. It was a propaganda scheme only. (To think that the US had suddenly become racially moral to the extent of trying to dismantle apartheid is ludicrous. If they really felt that way, why not do the same to the Congo, Rwanda, Nigeria and Uganda, they have worse problems but they are tribe/tribe not white/black)
