David, I have had DSL at home, via Quest, for 2 1/2 years now. The service has had intermittent problems over time. Average down time was maybe 1 or 2 hours per week until the last few weeks.

Since Qwest has stopped providing ISP service to residential customers (although they still provide the DSL service since the lines are in place), they forced all their ISP customers to migrate to other providers. They had a big advertising campaign on to promote their deal with MSN, so I took the easy route and migrated our ISP to MSN.

For the last 2 weeks, I would estimate that our DSL has been out of service for an average 20 hours/week. Not sure exactly where the problem lies. But suffice it to say that DSL is far from living up to its promise and is certainly not a panacea.
