DRUG SECTOR - Is Cramer Right? Maybe so...

"Now they are simply anchors, capable of dragging down anyone's portfolio. (Out of all these, I only own Pfizer (PFE:NYSE - news - commentary - research - analysis) after always being long a huge number of these stocks at my hedge fund.)

I wish I could tell you when they would turn around. But they have three negative headwinds: tons of important patent expirations, genuine threats to price controls at the state level, and an economy that is getting stronger instead of weaker, which is historically when drug stocks underperform the averages.

I am watching this DRG index struggle to hold the 375 mark. I think it will fail and will test the 360 level, which would be a complete rollback of any gains made in the last two years.

This group is hurting. If you have a two- to three-year horizon, you might be able to ride this one out. But is it worth it? I don't think so."
