Hi , Michael PBHG Emerging Growth fund is the top fund on 3-year return. Christin Baxter is the co-manager, she is ONLY 26(she is not the "B" in PBHG, her father is). That said I know she hasn't gone through a single bear market yet, and some day she is going to get married, have three kids, fall in love with a no good SOB, etc. Too many things can happen between now and MY retirement. It helps to remember that Pilgrim is co-manager(he is the "P" in the PBHG). I started putting money in the growth fund when it was a slim 400 M fund(no, it was not in the prehistorical era, it was only the spring of 94). Now the PBHG growth is a 4 billion fund, Scarry, isn't it? I just hope they stay healthy and make all the right decisions. As you know MY kids' going to Havard or local community college kind of depending on the performance of these people.
Overall, I like their funds. I also started investing in Van Wangoner's funds recently, mainly based on his track record at Govett small cap fund. I read in Mutual Fund magazine that he is a one man gang right now running all three funds-he even does buy and sell by himself physically. But so far so good.
I have not bought any on the recent dip, but plan to. I think it has a little farther to go(down). I got more excited when it is going down. In general I like to buy and hold, I am not a trader and konw very little about it. Good Lucks. |
