Hi Robert. You asked....." Question: If Arafat has no control over the Palestinian terrorists, what is the value of holding peace negotiations with him? Isn't he irrelevant, as Sharon states? "....

Just my opinion but I think arafat for years has been just a figure head for arab/palestinians, as long as it appeared that he was in control there was always hope from all stake holders that he could stop terrorist attacks so an all out attack from Israel would not come as long as there was hope.
I think most of the stake holders in that area now know that arafat has no power, IMO the real power is from Iran,&
saudia arabia and there is no hope for a peaceful settlement.
Like you said..." what is the value of holding peace negotiations with him? Isn't he irrelevant, as Sharon states? "....
Well I think so but BWDIK.
I don't think that iran is at all concerned about loss of arab/palestinian lives, they are expendable for the greater cause...the total destruction of the state of Israel.

I think arafat should consider running away from home...
soon, very soon. Dam he sure is ugly.
I sure agree with you...no value talking peace with arafat.
