ptanner Re..Elmer's statement concerned only the XP 2000+ volumes relative to the new NWs. I had to read the sentence twice the first time.<<<<<<
How on earth does Elmers statement only refer to the model XP2000, instead of all XP's. Elmer referred to The XP which AMD can only make in "10s of thousands"<<<< I assume you equated that to Hectors statement in the 4q-01 CC in which Hector stated that AMD had already shipped tens of thousands XP2000, even though the processor wasn't officially introduced until Jan-02. There is a fundamental difference between "shipped " and "can only make" Furthermore Elmer mentions the "Xp which is almost as fast as the NW" All XP's are almost as fast or faster than the NW, depending upon which model of NW, and XP you are talking about. The XP2000 is equally as fast as or faster, depending upon which test site, and which model NW you are referring too. Certainly the high volume NW isn't the 2200, but rather the 2.0 or the 1.9 ghz. Elmer is just using legalize to try to justify that erronious statement; unless Elmer is referring to another statement; in which case he can supply a link. Here are the statements from the CC.
Shipped record units of microprocessors at 7 million 810 thousand with a favourable mix towards Athlon versus Duron. We shipped tens of thousands of model XP 2000 in the quarter and produced 4 million Athlons XP<<<<<<<<
You can see Hector clearly said "shipped tens of thousands XP2000" and that AMD made 4 mil. XP. So when Elmer said "made" he was referring to the 4 mil. XP made. AMD never qualified how many XP2000's were made.
<Dan> Thank you, again, good quarter. Hector, in your opening remarks, you commented right after you commented about microprocessor units at 7.8 million, you made some sort of comment about XP in tens of thousands, can you repeat that please?
<Hector> Yes, in the fourth quarter, we shipped tens of thousands of model 2000 XP.
<Dan> That is the speed grade right.
<Hector> That's right.
<Rob> That would have been our high-end offering that we began shipping in Q4 and actually introduced here in early January. |
