(Some time ago) On TLC - The Learning Channel - one of the money shows, they had this master machinist who was taking a Susan B $. Doing a precision lathe cut inside the back side, then taking a date matched quarter taking a large part of the back off the quarter (again precision lathe)& taking off the line knurl look of the edge and pressing the (size on size)quarter - head up - inside the Susan B. - again head up so the dates are exactly opposed! Mirror image - almost! If I recall correctly he was selling them for $100 as a novelty.

Why couldn't much same be done with 2 K-Rands(one back & one for the front) & tungsten a slug core? Precise CNC lathe work has been available for quite some time.

I'd bet magna-flux would show up the cuts - no matter how good the press fit.

I worked for master machinists & or grinders who I have no doubt could pull it off - but WOW the cost!
