Get off your high horse. Macs were more expensive which made many people switch for the lower cost alternative.

Do you have caviar for breakfast? Champagne for lunch?

Of course not. That does not make anyone a sheep. They have simply (and sensibly) decided that the lower cost alternative is good enough.
