Kasten Chase Launches "Assurency(TM) SecureMail" For The Blackberry(TM) Toronto, Ontario
First product in Assurency Suite Provides Secure Wireless E-mail To Government and Business Blackberry(TM) Users
Kasten Chase (TSE:KCA - news), a leading provider of high-assurance data security systems, today unveiled Assurency(TM) SecureMail, the first product in its Assurency portfolio of secure mobile computing solutions. The customizable enterprise e-mail security solution for Research in Motion's (RIM; TSE:RIM, NASDAQ:RIMM) BlackBerry(TM) wireless pager quickly secures e-mail during transmission between BlackBerrys and other desktop and laptop computers, and when at rest on hardware. Created for all Blackberry users, Assurency SecureMail is the first in a series of high-performance security solutions that provide advanced security for a broad range of mobile computing platforms that will be introduced in the coming months.
``Government and business users demand technology that enables them to take full advantage of the flexibility that wireless handhelds provide with the assurance that every e-mail transmission is confidential and secure,'' said Paul Hyde, CEO of Kasten Chase. ``Our proven Assurency SecureMail solution fills this requirement by providing a high level of security without compromising performance or efficiency.''
Assurency SecureMail is based on the rigorous security standards of Kasten Chase, whose RASP Data Security solutions protect sensitive government electronic documents. While the Assurency solution is designed to provide the levels of security and privacy demanded by government agencies, commercial users can easily choose from a broad range of non-governmental encryption algorithms that best meet their specific operational, application and security needs.
``Security for personal computing platforms is quickly becoming a critical component of any organization's security policy,'' said Mr. Hyde. ``Our vision at Kasten Chase is to provide a portfolio of seamless, complementary security solutions regardless of the make or size of the device, whether it be a BlackBerry, a Palm OS(r) device, a PocketPC palmtop, or a laptop or desktop PC.''
Assurency SecureMail includes industry-leading Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) from Certicom (TSE:CIC, NASDAQ: CERT). Certicom's ECC provides Kasten Chase with unparalleled performance of the encryption and decryption of e-mail messages in the Assurency SecureMail software module, while maintaining the high-assurance security in the encryption and decryption of e-mail messages.
This will ultimately allow a desktop user to send the same encrypted e-mail to a BlackBerry user, a PalmPilot(TM) handheld user, and users of Palm OS devices such as the Kyocera QCP(TM) 6035 smartphone. Complete interoperability will be provided across all supported platforms. For Palm handheld devices without wireless capabilities, users can synchronize e-mail to their Palm handheld device, read encrypted messages while on the go, generate encrypted responses and have them sent when they next synchronize with their desktop.
Assurency SecureMail product highlights: * Protection against compromise -- in the event that a BlackBerry is lost or stolen, sensitive or mission critical e-mail text remains encrypted while stored on the BlackBerry. * Secure e-mail transmission from desktop or laptop to BlackBerry and from BlackBerry to BlackBerry. * High speed encryption and decryption of e-mail messages using Certicom's ECC technology. * Enhanced e-mail security for the Enterprise and Internet Service Provider versions of the BlackBerry. * The flexibility to send either encrypted or clear text e-mail messages from the same BlackBerry. * The option to choose the encryption algorithm (e.g. TripleDES, AES, FORTEZZA, Skipjack, etc.) that best suits the needs of the organization. * Simple, quick installation and configuration. * A low cost and modular solution that is fully supported by a company with a proven track record in high assurance data security.
Assurency SecureMail also extends e-mail security to the PC, ensuring that e-mail messages are fully protected while at rest on hardware or during transmission, regardless of the originating or receiving device type and the communications medium, whether wireless or wireline. Kasten Chase will offer Assurency SecureMail as both a turnkey solution through its status as a RIM development partner and BlackBerry reseller, and as a software upgrade for existing BlackBerry users. Assurency SecureMail is available from Kasten Chase immediately.
