I guess Vodafone has built out the colonial network better than the domestic "Wap is Crap" crowd,
or at least not installed the wrong servers all over the network.

On the other hand, maybe Sonera has some better connections, maybe even through
the french connection to the teeth of the elephant coast, not just gold??
(be aware of the oily nigerian coast just a little to the east, might be QCDMA soon??)

Ghana was for a long time using mainly no-SMS AMPS, have no idea why???

Seattle seem to be simpler in terms of GSM, even GPRS, but who really knows??

That is, I remember when both took 1-10 minutes or even days or more, but maybe my ghanian
buddy was too far out in the tarzan equatorial jungle then???
(he does not have GPRS yet, like those in Seattle, but busy scratching prepaid cards until
banking through wap comes along)
