eXcelon Joins Intel Solution Provider Program
Intel Relationship Enables Customers to Deploy the Highest Performance Distributed Software Applications Running on Intel Servers
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 28, 2002--eXcelon(TM) Corporation (Nasdaq:EXLN - news) today announced that it has been selected as an Intel Solution Provider. As a result of this strategic relationship, customers can reduce the development time and accelerate the run-time performance of distributed applications deployed on Intel-based servers.

eXcelon will work closely with Intel to ensure that mutual customers fully exploit the application performance benefits of Intel's latest processors. Intel labs will install eXcelon's core products to allow customers to optimize applications for Intel environments prior to deployment in a production environment. These core products, including XIS and ObjectStore, enable the development and deployment of both XML-based technology and high performance Java and C++ distributed architectures that power the highest performing business applications:

The Extensible Information Server (XIS) is a native XML database management system for corporate developers and software engineers who need to manage XML in a distributed environment. XIS provides the speed and throughput necessary to manage the extreme flexibility of XML. Unlike the competitors, XIS provides node-level management of XML.
Stylus Studio: eXcelon's Stylus Studio 3.1 is an integrated development environment (IDE) for developers who need XML development tools. Stylus Studio supports the authoring, validating and debugging of XSLT applications. Unlike the competitor, Stylus Studio has an integrated source-level debugger with back mapping. Stylus Studio is included as part of the XIS solution.
ObjectStore combines best-of-breed, object data management for Java and C++ to enable the development and delivery of high-speed, complex Web transactions, dynamic content, and network management applications.
Javlin, an enterprise cache for J2EE application environments, delivers high performance and scalability with dramatic run-time cost reductions.
``eXcelon belongs to the upper tier of the companies Intel works with worldwide, and our joint commitment is to continuously innovate using core technologies and emerging standards,'' said Scott Trumbull, director of Intel's Solutions Marketing Development Group. ``We have worked with eXcelon to develop a distributed application built on eXcelon technology for thousands of users internally.''

``The Intel Solution Provider designation represents an important milestone for eXcelon, and we're enthusiastic about the opportunity to work closely with a company that is both known and trusted by our customers,'' said Joe Bellini, CEO, eXcelon. ``As the market continues to evolve around Web services standards and architecture, our products are designed to complement the product development efforts underway by industry leaders such as Intel, and we look forward to working with Intel to help customers capitalize on this technology.''

Membership in the Intel Solution Provider Program carries the following benefits:

Solution Providers earn a special distinction with Intel's Fortune 500 customers
Solution Provider locations are able to display the ``Intel Solution Provider'' logo and can take advantage of special marketing programs, financial incentives and benefits, and priority technical support and tools
Intel also conducts benchmarking and quality assurance testing on partner products to continuously optimize performance
Solution Provider Partners participate in worldwide events designed to facilitate partnerships among members of the Intel e-business network, including independent software vendors and system integrators
