I didn't realize that the power consumption of any P3 would be a serious consideration They are talking about 280 of those in a rack. Even if the mobo, CPU and disk together take only 50 watts you are still talking about 14 kilowatts coming from that rack. Add to that the power to drive the A/C to the machine room and any fraction of a watt you can save on the CPU becomes significant cost savings.
