Ann,

IMHO, both men were known for dodging the truth and questionable behavior before either were elected. The American people choose to ignore those flaws. And it is pretty clear, that neither men left those flaws behind after becoming President.

In hindsight, even their campaigns ring hollow. Richard Nixon had a secret plan for peace. Bill Clinton's focus was the economy and getting the country out of a recession - that was already ending (if not already over).
