Tokyo, Jan. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Japan's jobless rate climbed to a
record 5.6 percent in December and may push higher this year as
Tobu Railway Co., Tokyo Electric Power Co. and other companies
eliminate thousands of jobs to ride out the recession. Factory
production had its biggest decline in more than a quarter century
last year.
