I'm aware of no Christian tradition in which the salvific sacrifice of Christ does not play a central theological role. Just as you can bend the English language only so far before you're no longer "speaking English" the same is true for any religion. One can adopt any system of belief one chooses. But you can no more properly call an arbitrary system of belief 'Christian' than you can call a random collection of utterances 'English'.
