>So does tweaking some stuff constitute making a new core? I don't know. In any event, Quantispeed is an advertising gimmick, not an architecture. Nuf sed.
I don't know if I agree, but whatever. We'll have to agree to disagree. As I've said, if the chips don't perform well, peopler won't buy 'em. Then again, there's Apple. :)
>So what's the story on AMD 0.13, Hammer tapeout, etc.?
No idea. For .13, isn't it late Q1 for mobile, some time Q2 for desktop? As for Hammer, if "first silicon is imminent", tapeout must've completed, no?
>AMD threw their typical smokescreens out at the CC, mentioning words like imminent, and stressing line yields, which is basically the inverse of wafer breakage. I would think AMD investors would expect more from their fearless leaders, but they let them get away with murder instead.
I don't trust them, but then again, that may be why I don't own the stock ;) On the other hand, I don't trust the boys at Intel, and I don't own that stock, either.
I just like buying the chips :)
