Unless people tell you they have casually dismissed something, I wonder how you can judge. And has anyone ever told you that? The manner (as opposed to casualness or deliberateness) often says less about the person than about the idea, imo. All sorts of people- for example- made very dismissive jokes about the folks of Heaven's Gate (for example). Those jokes were made by all sorts of people, and imo said quite a bit about Heaven's Gate and not much about the people who were sharing this "thoughts" on the HG folks. It is always tempting to think that manner reflects the person, but frequently it doesn't- it may reflect a situation, a prevailing ethos in the society, a group dynamic.
