Tuesday Jan 29 2002 News Release

Mr. Ewan Downie of Wolfden reports
BEMA GOLD TO JOINT VENTURE WOLFDEN'S MONUMENT BAY PROPERTY
A letter of intent has been signed with Bema Gold, whereby Bema will have the option to earn up to a 70-per-cent interest in the Monument Bay gold property located in northeastern Manitoba.
Bema can earn up to 70 per cent of the property in two stages. The initial 51 per cent can be earned by spending $3-million in exploration by Dec. 31, 2005, and making annual payments to Wolfden of $50,000. The remaining 19 per cent can be earned by spending an additional $3-million in exploration and making payments to Wolfden totalling $150,000. An initial payment of $25,000 and 150,000 common shares of Bema will be made upon signing of the formal option agreement.
The company believes that having Bema as a partner at Monument Bay will greatly enhance the exposure of this highly prospective property. Bema recently commenced production at the high-grade Julietta gold and silver mine in Russia, showing its ability to develop high-calibre gold mines. Monument Bay is a premier undeveloped Canadian gold prospect and Bema has the credentials to advance the project efficiently and effectively.
Exploration at Monument Bay will begin in the near future with diamond drilling planned for mid- to late February, 2002.
WARNING: The company relies upon litigation protection for "forward-looking" statements.
